97 Mark VIII LSC - Ongoing Project

I realized I never posted my info / project over here, so I've done a quick copy from that other site.

So I'm the guy that bought GMAN's black 97 Mark VIII. Some may have heard, others may not have. Either way, back story can be found if need be.

I've finally gotten most of the major mechanical issues fixed. I've been through the entire suspension and the car rides like a dream. A cloud, which is a problem for me.

I'm about to put a new radiator in it and finalize just a few things. It is possibly that I located a set of Koni Yellows (aka Unicorns) and they'll be getting 550/700 lb./in springs.

While it looks pretty good from 10 feet, it is cosmetically rough. I have elected to leave it and put my money into performance goodies.

Some of you knew it was for sale on Craiglist / FB / etc, but may have noticed it was recently removed.

I'll let some pictures do the talking, but I have some awesome plans that I haven't seen anyone do with these cars yet.

Sorry, I should've refrained from adding that little tidbit. I just wanted the op to know what the previous owners sn was on here.

Back to the car! :)

your "cosmetically rough" is better than most Mark VIII's in my town. including the 3 that hang out in my driveway.
10/10, would drive.

LvC. Short version: Car not as advertised. Flew to pick up. Overpaid. No contact from seller.

On another note, I found some Koni Yellows over on TCCoA and grabbed them up. $400 shipped isn't bad for having 10k on them.

I did some experimenting and got 03-04 Cobra springs to fit the shocks. No idea what ride height is like or if they fit the rear.

Since you're using shock inserts, you can always cut off the spring seat and re-weld in a different spot on the housing. Fully adjustable height if you will.

Glad to see you're putting this car to good use.

I lurk over at LVC and have been following the saga of this car. I am glad it went to someone who will care for it in the way it needs to be cared for; it was a shame that the car was so rough when you received it. Hope you keep coming back here, even though I do lurk there it is nice to be able to comment on it here.

I never considered that. I might know someone who could help me, for a fee.:wink2-green

I do appreciate the help you've given me with this build. I am definitely still a "noob" when it comes to these cars, but I am slowly learning. Tearing into the suspension four times since owning sure has helped, along with your guidance, of course.

It might not be kept in original condition or in a luxury car configuration, but it will always be a Mark VIII. My winter project is finding an 04 Mach 1 MT engine to swap in because this engine has seen better days. It will at least put a 96-98 Cobra intake back on the market.

I am not keeping mine 100% either, so don't worry about that! I would like to eventually run a 5.2L-5.3L stroker on a blower, so you swapping in a Mach1 engine is NOT a bother! :)

I just look forward to seeing what you do with it, and like the direction you have taken it so far.

I don't ever plan on making a ton of power, but I'd be happy with 300-325 WHP. Should make for a very fun weekend / track car. The weight will continue to go down as I work on it. A/C has to come out and other accessories. I can pretty much remove most of the heating / cooling equipment, radio equipment, and tons of other stuff for my class.

I'll have a NICE set of red / black leather seats with LSC stitched into them at some point. They have brand new skins and the power works on both.

Toledo area?

I am leaving Ohio because I am a Native Floridian with family still down there. Dad is getting rough and I need to be there for him, plus I am tired of snow and cold and RUST. Not to mention city and state taxes on top of all the Federal and Medicare/Social Security that already gets pulled from my pay. The state itself is pretty from late-Spring to Mid-Autumn.............F*** Winter though.
