97 Tail Light conversion????

Just curious if anyone has attempted to install the plasma 97 tail lights onto an earlier Mark Viii? Does the truck lid from a 97 fit a 95? I'm assuming the only modding you'd have to do is to the quarter panels but I haven't looked too closely. I've always loved those plasma looking brake lights!!

it's been discussed before. nobody's ever tried it.

trunklid would probably fit. to adapt the rear corner lights, extensive bodywork would be needed. it could be done... is it worth it, probably not.

Its just like shaving door handles or emblems......worth it...probably not but it looks SICK!!

Hey Jesse... where did you get that cowl cover on your Stang? I like that. First one I've seen. Also, whats the timeline on your Mustang theft deal. Looks like you put it back together pretty fast. Good job! Sorry you had to go through it. That's a recurring dream of mine, I lose my Stang! It's been stolen in my head several times. I always wake up in a bad mood on those days!

Steve,

I got the cowl cover off of ebay, search for mustang cowl. My mustang was stolen in Nov, it was gone for 13 days, and it took me about 2 months to get it back up to par (minus the rims, not enough cash). I only had liability at the time because I wasn't completely done with it so I had to cover everything myself and I too wake up sometimes in a bad mood, I guess its ok for me cuz I can still drive it. From what I've heard its still on the "hot list" for being stolen, a lot of rumors going around of how many people want to steal it again. Catch you later.

mustangs are popular among thieves. especially notchbacks.

i have a friend that had one stolen 5 years or so ago. now he has a supercharged notchback.

With "LOD" Since 1997
The only body panels I believe that the 1st gen and 2nd gen share are the doors. So it would take a lot of custom work to integrate it. No one has done it as far as I know. And I have been with LOD before it was LOD.

Lol, sooo back to the tail lights, anyone??

like i said. extensive metalwork. cut the taillight section out of the quarter panel of an otherwise wrecked gen 2. Cut about the same size piece (as small as possible) out of the quarter panel of your car, with the trunk liner out, the bumper off, and the trunklid off, of course after removing all wiring from the area. Weld gen 2 piece into gen 1 quarter. Make sure you get a strong weld and grind it smooth, and make sure you get the lines exactly straight when you weld it up. Then fill any problem areas with something better than bondo, sand it, spray it, sand out or fill any low or high spots, get it nice and smooth, then prime, sand, paint, clear, sand, polish. You will have to paint the whole quarter panel.

This of course would be after verifying proper trunklid fitment. Then you need to rewire and get everything hooked up. and lined up.
