99 navigator

I have had a few Lincolns, a 72 Mark 1V a 2002 navigator. totaled in accident and my current 99 Navigator.

i am asking for information on the 4WD range switch. It is locked in low range and selector switch does not change the setting. Is it the Disengage vacuum solenoid purge switch valve or the motor asembly on the transfer case. Bob

I did a similar thing in my parents Expedition, I finally read what I was doing wrong, it HAS to be in neutral and you HAVE to have the brake on (and going less than 5 mph) to be able to shift out of 4wd low. There is a fuse also, in the high amp box under the hood #104 is the 4x4 Shift Motor & Clutch fuse (it is a 30A maxi fuse).

Thanks I will try that. bob I just did what you suggested and it worked. all is back to normal I just drove about 5 miles and no problems thanks again Bob
