A horrible Mark VIII accident

I saw this on the news, the Mark VIII was stopped at a red light when it got rear ended.

It was a Buick SUV.

Hopefully no one was in the back seat.

Unfortunately, there were 2 people in the back seat, one died, the other one is in critical condition.

Imagine if that was a 59 Belair, I doubt the outcome would be as good.

According to http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Sho...0-2010+Vehicles/Vehicle-Detail?vehicleId=3458 a 1995 thunderbird received a 5 star rating on the front and side.

No test was done on a rear impact and there's no information for a Mark VIII, but I've seen a few knarly ones that people have walked away from.

I don't think in this case that they would have helped at all. Those kids are so young. I hope this guy gets put away for a long time.

Couldn't have said it better myself. This is one of the topics I brought up on one of the long forgotten air suspension topics. RIDE HEIGHT MATTERS!! I always had my back end up higher than stock and the front for this very reason. If that suv hit the frame of the car it still would have been bad but I'm confident there would have been less damage, and who knows, maybe saved a life.

This is so sad. I see on our news almost everyday about someone being killed in an auto accident. We had one this week where a semi ran into a minivan on the interstate and the car caught fire with one fatality.. What a terrible way to go. You never know.
