A horrible Mark VIII accident

It is not believed either back-seat passenger was wearing a seat belt, Pettyes said.

The 18-year-old driver of the Lincoln remained hospitalized Monday in stable condition while the 17-year-old front-seat passenger was treated and released. They were wearing seat belts, according to police.

amazing....front passenger was treated and released...
Not sure the back seat belts would have helped, but never the less, should always be worn.

as ugly as the car looks, it obviously held up quite well, considering the force of the impact...3 of 4 survived.
RIP to the child who died. Prayers to the family.
No mercy for the low-life drunk who deserves decades behind bars to "sober up"

Terrible crash. I'm wondering how much of that damage was caused by rescuers using the jaws of life?

Oh my! So sorry to hear about stuff like this. Probably a few things lead to it. Maybe the air ride was a little low? Maybe the 04 Buick was higher than usual? Point of impact suggests the entire Buick went above the rear bumper.

I was rear ended in my 1995 Ford Thunderbird back in 2003 in a similar crash, except I wasn't hit by a large Buick SUV, but a 2002 Nissan Altima. The Altima was basically destroyed (going over 45 mph when she hit me, I was stopped at a light), but I was just on the other side of a train crossing, so the bumper of the Thunderbird had the reverse effect on the Nissan. Impact pushed me into the car in front of me and caused what "looked" like minor damage to both the Thunderbird and the car in front. After investigation, found the rear bumper had been pushed in almost 8 inches to the point where it pushed in the gas tank too. Saw it coming too from the rear view mirror in a "Days of Thunder" moment...."oh man, this is gonna hurt!"

Driver of the Altima was fine. She just wasn't paying attention.

Seeing this kind of damage just makes me feel sick.

Hope the survivors are ok and they string up that drunk driver!
