if this club didn't register that domain how is that stealing? ::wtf:: I think it's a pretty low hit ::nono:: but none the less, that's a huge oversight. Not buying the name of the club dot com. Just because you buy it, it dosen't mean it has to be used but cover all bases and buy domain names that could be related. It costs what $10 a year...::wtf::

It's not the site name that's disturbing. The disturbing part is using "Lincolns of Distinction" our registered club name, as part of the site. And I do believe that just because a domain name isn't purchased, doesn't give someone else the right to use it in a malicious way.

I suppose though, that this is some jack-ass way of uniting all the Lincoln clubs.... wasn't that the original goal and intent? ::roll::

Hello? McFly?...I didnt even see the "dot.com"...I saw the L.O.D. name, and thought "why haven't I heard this mentioned before?" I know about the merchandise.....

so, FOR THE RECORD...I did NOT post this to stir up the pot...I seriously thought there was a LOD bookstore.

I am no longer 'diggin it'...and wont even consider visiting the site.

and as far as my opinion goes of someone buying a domain name remotely related to another one, yet of no affiliation...i think it sucks...it's called "hitchin a ride"...this is also one of the easiest ways to steal someone's identity. if you arent carefull, you could easily slap a C/C# on that site, assuming it is THIS site, and trusting it.

if in doubt, try visiting capital one's website, but mispell capital as CAPITOL...guess what happens? You end up at a website NOT affiliated with the credit service. THIS is borderline fraud/infringement.

The LOD bookstore idea is good, but once again, some clown went about it in the wrong way.

sorry folks.

Craig,

I thought the same thing when I saw the title of the post. I figured I just missed seeing the bookstore on our site, but after seeing the posts about it from others i think it does suck that the club name is being used by somebody for their profit and not the clubs. ::nono::

Normally I would give the guy the benifit of the doubt with the name if it was a common used name for places. Kind of like a Joes dinner thing, but a name like this is not something everyday people would come up with especially for something like an auto book place.

Realistically, back in the day, dot com sites were for commercial use and dot org sites were for not-for-profit organizations. The boundaries have surely disintegrated and even more extensions are available(dot info, dot us, dot biz, ...) and the lawyers and arbitrators laugh all the way to the bank.

Low hit? Oversight? Puhlease... even you say "Just because you buy it, it dosen't mean it has to be used". Well, it's being used. And admittedly it's being utilized for profit. The domain was intentionally garnered in bad faith as an act of personal retribution. Period. ::uh::

How many here have registered your own personal name? I doubt many have and even much less across all available domain extensions. Maybe you should 'cover all the bases'. How would it feel if every web search for your name resulted in hits that turned a profit for someone else? Even the benevolent have feelings. :B

EXACTLY RIGHT! Peole seem to think that registering someone elses name is OK if they didn't do it. If that was true then all the guys that registered Coke and IBM and others would not have lost them to the rightful owners.

If i registered www.ford.de, www.ford.biz, www.ford.org, etc., i would be sued by ford in a heartbeat and i would lose. it happens all the time, it's illegal, it's specifically prohibited by law.

We are currently doing what we can to obtain that domain name without wasting the clubs money on a legal battle. If/when we get it back, we will make an announcement.

The more you post that link, the higher the rating goes on google, and the more money he makes by squatting on our name. So please don't post it until it's ours.

Thank you.

So you think you can go and buy Lincoln.biz and use it for your personal gain? Go ahead and give it a try.
