A new Ford in the Family

With "LOD" Since 1997
Got my wife an 2013 CPO fully loaded Escape 2L EB AWD Titanium, with 401a tech package, navigation and parking package, panoramic power roof. (yes this means my Mark is up for sale)

Went to see a deep impact blue one (our first choice). Was an hour away, next closest one fully loaded was 4.5 hrs away. Now they knew I was coming in, even called before, you would at least think they would clean it, they have a car wash there to run it through. One of their old long time salesman was using it for his transportation. Was dirty inside and out and had a bit of a musty smell. Did not look like it was well cared for in its short 2 years 18k mile life. There was a rattle in the back hatch panel that was driving me nuts, again the sales guy should have just had their body shop there take a look. I found that the panel was loose. Also had some curb rash on two rims.

So after I came back in from the test drive the saleslady was not in the show room. So I am standing there and one sales guy take the dealer plate from so he can go on a test drive with his customer in another car.

So then the sales manager comes up to me to get the keys, I tell him about the rattle, then I say the car is filthy how do you expect to sell it. Then my 4 1/2 y/o son yells real loud in the show room that it needs a super car wash, Then I just leave, I get home and she has a message on my answering machine saying was not sure if I was still interested but to give her a call.

So I was hoping to get that one for $29k out the door ( that included the 7% NJ sales tax, title, plates, registration, fees, etc)

So now I say to my wife we still have time to go to my servicing dealer to look at the sliver CPO one. So we get there it is like night and day, this car is a 9+, looks like a new demo, still has new car smell (11.8k miles), no curb rash on the rims. I also like that the side rails are painted to match and not chrome. Only issue they ran the battery down and it it needed a jump to start.

Since it is CPO I can also get the Ford loan for 1.90% for 72 months instead of the 1.99% I got on my own for 60. Also extends the bumper to bumper 12 months 12k miles and the powetrain to 7 years 100k miles. Only difference in options is the blue one had full leather seats, and this one has leather trimmed seats. However I think the contrast of the leather cloth looks more sporty and the cloth looks durable. Both front seats are heated. The rear seats recline.

So it drives great, no rattles, even the power sun shade is very quite unlike the other one.

So I told him I was looking to get out the door for $29k, but I know this car is worth a lot more due to great condition, miles, CPO and I know they have a great service department. So he comes back getting me out the door at like $30,500, I say make it an even $30k. Sales manger comes back and says can I meet you at $30,200. I say come on, you need the $200, the look on their face said yes but they are pros at this. So I say it is CPO put in a new battery since the one in there now got drained and we can do the deal. They said ok. It also needs the pig tail radio antenna that screws on the antenna base. This was just before closing time, I think my sale made their holiday weekend quota, the whole place was like thanks, etc, or they just made a huge profit off me . They are closed this Monday, so I pick it up Tuesday night.

So after seeing the blue and the sliver my wife is happy, she agrees the sliver is very nice on the escape.

The 2L EB does move it nice but the 6 speed auto I thought had soft shifts, there is a sport mode like the Flex and shift toggle on the shifter for select shifting but I did not try it, has plenty of power for the wife to use. I am 6'3" no issue if I had to drive it with the kids in the car set behind me. So lots of passenger room and lots of room in the hatch for supermarket shopping but not big Costco trips. The panoramic roof is huge, it opens 1/2 up, has a power shade.

Pics I took, this was in the shade, when we got there it was in the sun, the paint popes real nice, no swirl marks or scratches.
