Anyone everreplace the AC discharge hose? I am sure a few have. My AC works fine when charged, but this hose leaks.

Do you need those special tools mentioned int he manual to remove the spring lock couplings?

You can pick up a set of spring lock release tools pretty cheap at a parts store. Thet are rather common.

Thanks. I was thinking that but haven't checked. Anyone know if the correct replacement orings are available aftermarket?

They are.... and the tool is REALLY cheap! AZ or any decent parts store....Plastic if I remember correctly. And I think it's the same tools that pulls the connector off the fuel filter.

Hose came wih orings on the female ends. One of the connections is a male end to the compresor so I am assuming the orings are on the compressor side. I bought the hose off someone as an NOS unit so no orings came with it. Not sure if they were supposed to or not. Did not know to ask. Stopped at the part store and got the tool. They have a variety of AC orings in stock so I am sure they have them. Will take it apart pretty soon. HAving lunch...2 chicago dogs and some homemade chicken vegeable soup.

HA ! Make sure you bring some of that food with you when you come to visit ;)

I usually use a part of a hose clamp, you can cut it to fit any size fittings, and it works better than those cheap plastic pos tools.

After using the tool I can see how you can use just about anything that will fit in there. A hose clamp would work well.

I LOVE the plastic ones....stick it in and push together, then pull apart. They are Matco brand though...not cheapy Kragen's brand or something. True shade tree mechanics (Jeremi, lol) use hose clamps, zip ties, french fries, whatever to work.

I took this picture a while ago when I sarted this thread but thought I deleted it. This is what that canister on the AC discharge line looks like inside. It is just that...an empty can. Not sure what it does. Maybe it simply dampens line turbulance and vibrations.

It's called a "muffler". And that is exactly what it does. It removes pressure pulses from the system, due to compressor operation.

I bought a NOS one from Lonnie at BOC. MArk and I know someone who used one from a tbird. The only difference was he had to swap the sensor port from the Mark. teh tbird one is only $50-60. I would have done that if i had known. You could also try to 93-97 hose. I think the only difference is they added extra orings to the 98 hose for better sealing.

They're discontinued for all years and not available anywhere. The 94-96 discharge line for a 4.6 T-bird will fit and they're still available (check rockauto). You do have to swap the bracket and the pressure switch though.
