Accel Coils

Anyone use these? I bought a set and installed them last night. Ran the car today and the car seems to run and idle smoother.....Now it may be just me.....any how does anyone have any + or - for these coils? 98 Mark COP :lodrules:

you probably would have got the same results with new motorcraft coils.

That's a possibility Steve but the car had Motorcraft coils......I've only had the car a year this month and didn't know how long those coils had been in there......so to bring everything up to speed so to speak I put the Accel's in......

It is my opinion that with most ignition components any performance gain is simply due to replacing 'aged' components?

I have the Accels in mine too. Rough idle smoothed out. They claim to have a higher spark than stock, but that only applies if the computer sees the need for more spark. So the Accels just give the opportunity to throw more spark in to the mix. Everyday driving won't show much other than what was already mentioned - newer(fresher) electronics run better.

I have had them i saw no difference in power or economy. The only difference i saw was about 3 months after the one year warranty they started dropping like flies. Bit the bullet and went for the original Motorcrafts they last 100,000 miles easy Good Luck!
