all-inclusive resorts

well, it's official....we're going back!

HISTORY: in 1964 My parents were Married. In 2000 they were both retired, my dad from Chevron and my Mom as a former marriage and family counselor.
Through the years we traveled a lot around the world and I have seen places people dream of. The benefits of two hard working parents.

In 2004 My parents decided to take the entire family, including kids, grandkids, and spouses on an all-inclusive trip to the Caribbean to a resort called
Beaches-Turks and Caicos.
It was the trip of a lifetime...I was in paradise...
You never spend a dime once you're there unless you want off-resort excursions (golf, tours, parasailing, etc)
You cannot tip, you dont pay for food or drinks, and most of the activities are included (scuba, snorkeling tours, water park, gift shop, etc).

I swore before I died, I'd go back...it truly is paradise.

In 2014, they decided to do it again for their 50th anniversary. So we went back...family was larger, people older...but the resort was just as familiar as 10 years earlier. heaven, revisited.
we all decided as a group, as long as Mom and dad were still in good health, we'd do it again in 5 years.

since then, they sold their home and moved to a senior retirement community. Dad has early stages of parkinsons, but is functioning well. Mom is healthy...but dad had a scare a few months ago with blood pressure issues...

They sat us down one night and decided "why wait for a milestone year? lets go now"

so we are booked once again for summer 2018 to return to Beaches Turks and Caicos.

if you have a chance to do one thing on your bucket list and you can afford it....take a trip to one of the Beaches or Sandals resorts...

Go visit their website and look at the photos and amenities....the photos are realistic...the dining is the finest in the world...the weather is perfect (June)
the discounts are amazing (65% off)

the place books up a year in advance so plan early.

The only draw back?

waiting almost a year to go back to a place you dream about all the time!

Do yourself a favor if you go....dont plan anything in advance to "do" once you're there....just get there and decide...all the planning in the world usually ends up wasted once your feet hit the white sand and the ice-cold cocktail touches your lips.

Firs time we did a red-eye to Miami with a 5 hour lay-over....last time we flew SFO to Newark with a 1.5 hour layover....this time we're going to do Miami again....I'd rather sit in an airport for 5 hours waiting for a 1 hour 40 minute flight than rush through international security in newark only to sit cramped on a plane and fly for 5 hours again.

visit Beaches resorts . com and take a peek.

I am truly blessed to have parents that worked their butts off and are treating us again to Heaven on earth.

Glad to see you're getting out of town.. :D

It sounds like a great place. I'd say you should post a photo of that beach once you get there, but that kinda defeats the purpose of "checking out," doesn't it..

my dropbox album from 2014 has over 100 photos.
I woke up at 5:00am one morning and it was 80 degrees out. I grabbed my coffee and iphone and headed out to stroll the resort. I walked about 2 miles and as the sun rose and the workers were all cleaning and prepping the resort I snapped the photos. calm, still pools, clean walk-ways, perfectly manicured lawns and flower beds....calm, empty beaches, but the aroma of breakfast being prepped at the several restaurants lured me back to my suite for a shower.
between the humidity, fresh tropical scents of the natural plants/flowers, BACON, coffee, the sounds of the water falls and the light chatter of the morning birds will be moments I will have forever embossed on to my memory file.....and now I get to go back.

the 'waiting' is the hardest part....but the anticipation is like the smell of a BBQ with a fresh steak grilling when you're damn hungry....well worth the wait.

We've been booking our flights and to be honest, the 5 hour red eye, 3 hour lay-over then 2:30 flight (SFO to Charlotte to Provo) is dreadful. But that is the route we chose so as to hopefully avoid Miami's weather risks and dealing with customs/immigration in Miami airport.

just wish I had webspace to share a link. dropbox only lets me email a link to my album.

Sadly, the very resort I am talking about took a direct hit from Irma....the resort's facebook page has many followers who have posted pictures of the damage it sustained. The place survived and all satff and current guests are reported safe but the island itself sustained a lot of damage. Most of the resort's landscaping was destroyed, and the pools have sustained damage as well as many of the structures but they report all is ok and within a few weeks the clean-up may be mostly complete, pools drained/repaired/refilled. the beach was ruined and will need rebuilding and they suspect the popular dive sites have most of the coral intact.
My heart goes out the the island population as tourism is their main source of income and the costs to repair the airport may keep it closed for several months.

Google
Turks and Caicos Irma and view the images.
Providenciales

My thoughts and prayers are with the continental US now...
