Another new guy here

Hi everyone.
Just joined. Looks there's some good people and knowledge here!

I'm new to lincolns. DIY type of guy.
I bought my dad a 97 LSC 6 months ago and liked it enough to find my own.

Last week I picked up what looks like a 1 owner 98 pearl with cream interior. 80k miles.
And everything works!
Well, except the blend door arm. Damnit!
I'm elbows deep in that project right now.

At 6'3 250lbs I think I might need a chiropractor after this!

Is anyone parting out any of these?

My dad's car need little things like drivers door window switch covers, cup holder, ash tray. Black interior.

I need a passenger mirror housing in pearl. At least that's what I think the color is. Isn't white and looks sparkly in the sun.

Glad to find this site!

Welcome, Crisco!

Many people here have parts, so I'm sure you'll get a couple replies on that. With two new Marks to maintain, I'm sure you'll find some useful information here. Don't hesitate to ask questions if a search doesn't pull up the information you seek.

Mod that blend door!
It will break again without some help.
Yup! I pulled the old one out. The black arm was split.
Did the compression sleeve on both sides with epoxy.
It ended up breaking while I was putting it in. The part that goes in the blend door broke off in the blend door.
CRAP!

At least it did it before I got the dash back in.
I got lucky and found a new motor in town so I went to grab that one.
Did the slot mod in the metal arm.
I tested it while I could watch the whole thing move and those ford engineers totally missed the train with their geometry.

It looks to me like the metal arm is the main culprit.
The black LSC one still has heat, and I think I can get under there with a dremel and do the slot in that one without pulling the dash.

Only had one issue, well besides the fact that job sucks big time, but the black plastic thing that goes around the shifter and slides with it broke.
I am guessing the car was never dropped into first before. The plastic was as brittle as a cracker and snapped when it tried to flex down with the guide.

Now when it's in park there's a hole that you can see the transmission tunnel through.

Has anyone had success with other material to just make a new one? I doubt that's an easy to get part, and would probably be brittle also if already on a car.

I'll get some pics this weekend once the foot of snow we got melts.

Should I post them in here or is there a better place?
My car is without a doubt one of the cleanest I have ever seen. No grime in the door jambs, even under the center console was clean. The only thing I found was one of those weird plastic toothpicks with the bristles.

I've never heard about this shifter problem.

The shifter photos should probably go in the interior section, that will make it easier for people to search for this and similar problems.
