My auto head lamps don't turn on anymore when it gets dark outside.
Anyone have an idea what to look at?

Bad sensor? Its located on the dash to the right side (passenger side).
I had the opposite happen when I first got the car, I had some papers on the dash and covered the sensor. Lights always on.

Probably looking at pulling the dash.

Lets hope not. I did my heater core a couple years back.
I let her sit in the shayd for almost 2 yrs. since she got hit. That seems better than drivng in the sun. It saved the paint too. Whats left of it anyway.

Do you have the CD manual (or factory manual) for your car? It has the detailed troubleshooting procedure in it. (If you don't have one, you oughta).

First thing you want to make sure of is that your battery is right up to snuff! Believe me, if the battery/charging circuit is not right where it's supposed to be, all kinds of things can go wrong! Next thing (after the sensor) is the SCIL module.

I had a brand new battery too....alternator was putting out 13.3v and it was BAD! It would never show output to 14.4v

Next is to check the light sensor and then SCIL

...and then the voltage at the light switch......There are SOOOOO many things at this point, you really do need the manual.

I think he is trying to tell, that it sometimes quite tricky to find the appropriate info on service CD even it is there for shure.

I kind of doubt it's just the sensor, but if you have access to another Mark, you could easily swap out the dash top trim panel, sensor attached, with one from the other car and see if that's the problem. You don't need to pull the dash to get to the sensor. Heck, you don't even need tools. Just pull one end of the panel up with your fingers, it's held on with plastic pins.

Nooo +1! Just take an air hose to it! :D

I would say....your autolights work fine, your wife probably got in and turned off the Auto Headlight switch. Go check it, make sure its not turned "UP" all the way.

No Mr. Gen 2, lol. The Dimmer Switch gets switched all the way "UP" and it turns the auto headlights OFF (I think). Been awhile since I had mine....someone else confirm?
