uhh.... I think you have the auto light function confused. It's not day time running lights, it automatically turns the lights on through the sensor on the dash once it gets dark. The "knob" you're turning is to change the lighting intensity but not for your headlights. It's for your dash lights, radio lighting etc. If you push it all the way up it should turn on all your interior lights.(if they work)

Do you mean the ding it makes when the key is in the ignition?

Edit: just saw ou said info center. Does any warning message pop up when it does that?

Hmmm.... that almost sounds like it could be the key alert to let you know the key is still in the ignition once you've cut the car off and opened the door. Mine used to do that and then it quit. only time it beeps now is if the passenger door is open or if I left the lights on. :D

no this is an entirely different chime than that one i have been told by a few people around here that it may be my ignition switch going bad

1st I never said you didn't know the difference. The way you described it was that you were turning the dial to try and change the intensity. I'm not sitting there with you and my advice was simply based off of what you posted and the information you gave. The auto light function is part of the headlight switch. The auto lights are either on or off. Simple enough. As far as the chime/beep you're talking about I suggest you either find someone near you to listen and help or upload a video of the recording so that we here can help. I've been around the cars plenty and I've only heard a few different beeps/chimes. So until you can provide some actual audio of the thing my thoughts and ideas are blind shots in the dark. :ttiwwp:

One last thing. You never said if you'd tried to locate the sound or not. Try locating it. If it sounds like it's coming from behind/in the dash but more towards the passenger side then pull the glove box and your culprit will be visible. The box back behind there is part of the anti-theft system(if i'm not mistaken, it's been awhile) I removed mine because it had gone bad and would make an awful chime every time I hit a bump, started the car, turned the car off etc. That's my last shot in the dark. If that's not it then I'm clueless without some kind of audio or visual help besides your descriptions.

Ah ok that makes sense now. I removed mine but it was the factory unit and I didn't have the key fob keyless entry, just the security pad on the door. The one I removed had developed an internal short, I'd hit a bump and it'd beep, hit the next bump and it'd stop. DROVE ME NUTS. I do have one in my old parts car if you can't locate another one and if it's the same. Just let me know.
