I would agree. I have Flowmaster 44s on my 5.0 stroker Mustang. Sound good. Have OG two chambers on a 65 Galaxie with 390, huge cam, headers, and 3" exhaust. SOUNDS great. On a 60 Ford 300 I have two chambers, its a stock 292, sounds good.

On my baby 64 Tripower car, I have Magnaflow Magnapacks, sounds like pure heaven. My wifes GT has full size magnaflow sounds great. On old 01 Cobra (same motor as our cars) I had full size magnaflow, sounds sexy as hell. Same with an old 00 GT.

I am on a super budget since my Mark is just a save a friend project and keep miles off of my truck.

I am allowed to talk smack since half of my cars have flowmasters... Magnaflow is FAR superior to flowmasters. Sound is taste so you pick which you like better. Construction is fact and my magnaflows are put together way better than my flowpoops. They are straight through. So you will have better flow and you will have more sound outside than inside. I made the mistake of having flows on my 00 GT. It was just as loud inside as out.

My sugestion.... if you are keeping the front cats, run magnaflow magnapacs. They are NOT like a glasspack eventhough they look like one. They do not have the loovered perferations like a glass pack. They are much more "tone" than staight pipe.

All though..... for $20-30 any muffler shop will elimiate your mufflers and replace with 2 or 2.25" pipe.... That sound great too.

EDIT: Sorry for all the misspelling. I am typing with one hand since I have a sleeping kitten on my other arm.

But again it is all in your taste in sound.

If you like flowmaster sound, get them. Play on youtube to hear some.

I would LOVE to hear one of these with longtubes, x pipe, 3" into some dynomax race bullets. Would sound like a Ford GT....

Not many Flowmaster lovers on this forum! If you must go Flowmaster then the way to mount them in the back would be with an offset/offset on the same side, so that they could be tucked into the space in the rear fender. A Flowmaster Super 40 Series 2-chamber muffler with a 2.5" inlet and outlet has a part number of 952549. Same is true of any rear mounted muffler no matter the brand.

Others would suggest a mid-mount dual in/dual out muffler in place of the 3rd cat/resonator. I have my set-up like this, but it's a 50 Series for trucks and SUVs. It's too quiet for me! Good luck to you!

i hope to get my exhaust done next month just collecting parts. i got cobra headers. i need a cobra h or xpipe to mod
I'm basically doing the same thing you are right now, I might have a pair of shortys by tonight and I've been researching components the last couple days. I've got the steering joint and an x pipe already so I'm looking at cat's and mufflers next. Let me know if you find any more useful information regarding this swap. Do you know what set up you are doing?

I just ordered one Dynomax Ultraflow X muffler to delete the 3rd cat. It's 2 inlet 2 outlet then I'm going to finish it with a TruBendz Technology 2 1/2 tail pipe kit from manderelbentexhaustsystems.com
