Blackstone Labs endorsement

To get clear information oh how much you guys need to change your oil you really need to spend about $25 and 30 min of your time to get an oil change analysis done on your cars by blackstone labs.

did one on the vette after 6000 miles even though the message center told me I still had 40% left... they recommended to go with 6500. oil showed averages of oil with roughly 4000 miles on it.

did one on the Crown Vic after 8000 miles and they recommended to go with 9000 mile intervals... the engine now has 182k miles on it!! Just another reason to love ford. :D. The wear showed averages of oil with 4500 miles on it.

I'm sad I didn't do it earlier since i could have saved a lot of money and time by not changing the oil with mobil 1 every 5000-6000 miles.

FYI I am using the exact same filter and oil in the Crown Vic as I did in both my marks.
Motorcraft 820S Oil filter at wal-mart for $3.29 a pop and Mobil one 5w30 for $23.50 per 5 quarts also at wal-mart.

Using the Mobil 1 $10 filter in the vette... it seems it adds little benefit over stock.

So you're saying that the oil shows the wear/breakdown of 4500 miles on it yet you ran it for 8000 miles? If I'm understanding that correctly, thats a good thing, right?! Its kinda confusing, lol.

lol yea that is what they are saying... they are saying the oil shows the wear of 4500 miles even though I ran it for 8. They are recommending that I run it for 9000. I thought it was pretty clear. I was just a bit shocked because ford recommends oil changes after 3000 miles under extreme conditions and 5000 under regular conditions.

They also mentioned that the filtration system seems to work great also. Which is good news since I am using a stock non-extended filter.

I second Blackstone. We use them extensively, to the point of several grand a year worth of testing. But we have some rather expensive motors we use.

where and how do i get my oil tested? is there a link to a page and i can send it to or what? sound like good info to have so i know how long i have to get my other motor together if i ever do.

With "LOD" Since 1997
Max, in the Vette you go by one year or the oil ife indicator. Don't tell eviltwin on CF otherwize :D
