Brake line repair?

Well it has to get done sooner or later. The lines are crusty by the LR wheel and I'd would like to get it taken care of. I'll be having my competent mechanic friend replace what's needed but i'd like to hear opinions on the best way of fixing said issue and if there could be any issues that could pop up during the repair.

Couple questions-

1) Would it be best to run new lines from the proportioning valve all the way back or to tap into the line under the rear seat? I've heard of people tapping into the line, what would be the safest way of doing this? Can you double flare with that particular line still on the car?

2) If ran from the P. valve is the fitting reusable? Not a big deal just curious. I've read that certain areas use odd fitting and line size...True? 3/16th line back there correct?

I've never had to mess with brake lines so give me a break. I just want a clearer understanding of what to expect. It being my DD I can't really afford for anything to go wrong.

I see what you did there.

(Sorry)

Anyway I've never done it, but imho I would just run new lines. A couple companies do stainless steel braid replacement lines. I believe that Inline Tube has a set specific for the mark, and Classic Tube can make to order.

It wasn't intentional. :)

Apparently inline didn't "save" any of the patterns so that's out of the picture.

That's too bad. I've been lucky... never really had to deal with brake lines. Maybe someone with a factory repair manual can check if there's a diagram with dimensions? It's a long shot but who knows...

Well I read the whole brake line thread from a while back...

It appears that I can either flare it under the rear seat or go directly into the proportioning valve as dlf (rip) did. Everything else was pretty self explanatory.

Depending on what the soft lines look like those will likely get replaced as well.

I'd go all the way to the proportioning valve but keep those fittings from it as they (or one of them?)are the hard ones to find. It's not that difficult of a job, I leave the old ones there to use as a guide until the new ones are bent properly next to them. There's a couple you tube videos about making the bubble flares.
