Cable and VOIP

I am getting ready to research VOIP. I currently have a Cisco ubr924 that is VOIP capable. It has a couple pots line on it (rj-11) already. I was wondering if all I need is a good config and an IP phone? Do I even need an IP phone if the router can connect to a normal one? Thanks.

I dont think I need to do that. I already have the equipment that makes it possible aside from the IP phone (if I even need it).

Ok, now we are talking, Comcast should have all that. What I need to know is what is involved. With the proper config and routing, will I be able to plug an analog phone into my pots jack on the router or do I need to connect an IP phone into my switch? Will that be all I need to get a dial tone and make a call? Also, how would I be able to sniff out what the IP's of the pstn are?

You need to call your cable ISP and see if they offer digital phone service. Then if they do you need to subscribe to it.
