Can't mark forums read

trying clearing your cache for this site then closing the browser and returning fresh to the site, here is how.

In ff and ie, it should be similar, go to tools up top of browser then to options/ internet options. Then to privacy in ff, then click on 'remove individual cookies' type this sites name into search box that pops up and delete all the results of that search, (if you don't do this then you will delete all cookies and you probably don't want to)

for ie (explorer) go to "Tools" menu at the top of the page and select "Internet Options". This should now default with the "General" tab selected. In the "Browsing Internet" section, click the "Delete" button. In the pop-up that appears, select all areas that you want to delete information from and hit "Delete". Wait for the computer to completely process this, and once it finished, you're cursor should return and you can close out of the "Internet Options" menu and resume your activity.

Works for me fine. Jeremi, it's obviously you're browser/firewall because all 3 of your computers are on the same network right?

My marking the forums read works fine but now I'm seeing lots of bad image links for icons in the thread indexes. I tried all thread vies, always the same.

Same here, specifically this thread. Large blue framed box with a blue question mark.

That is questioning your masculinity :D

I see some broken links to images as well.

You have to go in and delete specific cookies for LOD Barry.

Yes, I have. The computer is running better than ever after the clean up, but still can't "mark forums read".

This may be the problem
I can't seem to completely log out. I log out it says all cookies deleted, I close the IE, restart the computer and open IE and I'm logged in only to this site. This is happening even after I deleted ALL save passwords, cookies, history and cleared autofill. ???? Don't know what I'm missing.

OH...you are using IE...... download and try Firefox. I think you'll like it!
This is NOT the solution. If it worked fine before and WE didn't change anything, OBVIOUSLY installing knew random software isn't the fix, especially when the forums just got completely updated and that's when the problems started.

Barry, you make a keen observation. If you can't log out then it can't give you your "last visit" threads. If you'd like, I could log into my computer on your name and try making forums read. This should force log you out and then it may reset everything.

Also, turn off the "delete cookies when closing browser" setting. Deleting every time will slow down your browsing. It's good to empty once a month or so depending on the amount of browsing, but in your case, once every two months would be fine. No need for every time you close.

Since were on the topic of faster/cleaner. Downloa the free software Spybot S&D, install, immunize and search for malware/viruses/Trojans. I do NOT use anything other then this software to protect my computer from viruses, etc. It also speeds up your computer by cleaning all the junk off. I highly recommend it.

I am a firm believer in Norton's 360. As either Staples or Office Depot has it on sale for very little (sometimes free) and it's good for up to 3 computers, I've using it for about 3 years now. Love it.

Norton hit a real rough spot in the road a few years back but they've really got a good product now. #1 seller this past year! + they have a great customer support.

Also it is good to use a good anti virus software, spybot and an adware software to stay completely protected. Nothing else, I recommend eset nod for an anti virus. Its the highest rated one out. Also, whatever browser you are using, make sure you have the latest updated version that exists. It will keep everything in sync.
