Carlisle Newbie Questions

Thought I would ask a n00b question that I did not find answers to on the Carlisle events web site. Possibly a LOD Carlisle veteran might be able to shed some light on for me? :)

I downloaded the PDF's from the web site, but could not find much info regarding how the judging works.

Is the judging by event staff, popular spectator voting by ballot, voting by entrants only, or any combination? Need the details too please, on how this whole thing works.

The web site says:
Sunday:
9 AM WINNERS LIST POSTED / Outside Guest Services
NOON LINE-UP FOR NPD SHOWFIELD PARADE / Winner’s Field
1 PM NPD SHOWFIELD AWARDS PARADE / front of Grandstand

Is Saturday the only day the cars are judged? Or do they also judge on Friday?

I was at a multi-day Nopi event last year, and the judging was all but a minute, if that. They pulled up in a golf cart with a clipboard, made some notes, put a red dot sticker on your car and that was it. You are then free to do whatever you want. Same deal at Carlisle? Thanks!

Mike I know Saturday is the only day the entrants and spectators vote. You can also get a celebrity pick which consists of Ford engineers, journalists, etc. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Popularity contest, entrants and spectators vote. That being said since i will have an other Lincoln (mkz) so i expect everyone in LOD to vote for me so they can mail Mike his award. lol

You get a 'group' ballot with your 'goody bag' for the show. It is a peer judged event along with Celebrity picks. Voting is on Saturday. You can vote for as little or as many classes as listed on your ballot. Ballots are to be turned in by a certain time Saturday.

The winners are posted Sunday morning. If you wish to participate in the winners 'parade', you bring your vehicle to a special area where they sort and organize the winners by class. If you don't want to be in the parade you can go to the specified location to pick up your award.

If in the parade, after you bring your vehicle to the line up area, you hang out near your vehicle and prepare to play 'follow the leader' though the fairgrounds to the grandstand area. Each class winner is announced as they approach and you are directed to the winners circle for the award presentation and a photo op in front of the grandstands.

You can purchase the photos of your car at the designated vendor location which is usually located under the grandstands.

Don't sweat the details so much and enjoy the weekend. ;)

Thanks JP! Not really sweating the details. lol More like trying to multitask. :) I thought if judging was like the Nopi event, Wendy and I could break away from the car show stuff and do some sightseeing and shopping.

You'll be sweating so much beer, you won't have time to sweat anything else anyway... :D :D :D

lol who me? I might be good for a beer or two. :)

All that chrome and you're worried about judging ? It's all set Mike. ;)
I've seen your car. Jeremi is right. :D

This is going to be a good year at Carlisle. Have fun, Mike! Oh, and While you are sightseeing, be sure to stay off the interstates. Every single back road around there is incredible.

There is Main Street (where the hotel is)...
Then the Walmart (clearly a popular hotspot)...
Then there is a lot of nothing (in basically all directions :p )... :D

I do not agree with you. There is Mechanicsburg close by with an amusement park and small track. :love-it:
I agree on the back roads, You will be surprised. (my parents (gone now) and my sister and family live not too far away).

Thanks Jeremi :) But really, this is more of a bucket list item for me. Been wanting to do this since around 2002 when I bought the car and joined the club.

Wendy and I made some changes to the itinerary yesterday. We are headed to Gettysburg Sunday morning to get a history lesson :)

I have to definitely agree with you here JP. I have been going to Carlisle since '99 and I don't think I ever got through the entire show. Maybe if I stopped bsing in the tent I could get through it but what fun would that be... :)

Shopping???

NO.
Downtown Carlisle has some interesting mom and pop shops. Many stay open late on parade nights.
lol Just about every cruise-in or car show I attend with Wendy, some sort of shopping, side excursion, or dining is involved :)

For most Carlisle events at least one day it is sweltering hot with rain storms, or damp and cool with rain.
