Does the woodgrain on the CE shifter handle match the trim in a 97 ?

Right. The wood shifter, and surround have an extra couple coats of varnish over them or something.

Not that it stopped me from using the CE shifter with my normal everything else... it just feels so nice..

Yes, the regular wood trim is kind of a satin finish where the CE is glossy. I think the wood color is about the same though.

CE cracked bezel.jpgBezel Woodgrain.jpgclear coat surrounds.jpgGen 1, and CE's had the surround bezel's made with thick resin, and can develop cracks. Gen 2's are very thin, and like just painted. Color is a little different, but by clear coating, the bezel matches pretty good. Even with non wood shifter, the cleared bezel's up grade the wood look. If your not happy with the color match, re do the shifter, sand, stain, and clearcoat, to match. Cleared bezel matches pretty good.

I bought a spare bezel a few years ago planning to give it a light sand and clear coat.. i never got around to it. :)

FYI, The best clear I've ever used is from Automotivetouchup, and anything I paint, I clear coat it. And it's priced right.
