cobra headers

i bought the frp headers what xpipe or hpipe will work with them?
A stock or aftermarket '96-'98 Cobra H or X-Pipe will directly bolt to the headers, but it will certainly need to be substantially modified to clear the transmission and connect to the rest of your exhaust. IMHO, that would be easier than making one from scratch. Too bad you're not closer, I have a extra 409 stainless Bassani X-Pipe.

The pic below is the X-Pipe that I have on my Cobra, just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

You'll also need to pickup a gasket for the passenger side header to pipe connection. It's an oval metal gasket. I have quite a few in the garage, I'll get you the part number tomorrow.

Try and find a stock H pipe from 4.6 Cobra or GT somewhere local to you. You can use the downtubes from it, and mate it to stock or the mandrel bent system that one company sells.

Doug, is that the bassani X pipe ? It looks like it might clear the trans and the rear crossmember. What's the width between the pipes right by the rear o2s ?

It is, but it's been modified with high flow spun cats.

Here are some pics and rough measurements of a stock Bassani X-Pipe. They won't fit Mustangs with 4R70W transmissions, so they probably won't fit on a Mark VIII either. ;)

However, if one were to install a TR-3650 or TR-6060, who knows?

What kind of numbers are expected from the shortys? I might have a line on one soon and just wondering if it’s worth doing, I already have an x pipe so I was planning on a custom exhaust this summer (3rd cat back) and wonder if it’s worth getting the headers. Also if it’s worth the additional fabrication work that I will have to pay someone to do?

Guys sorry to ask a silly question but im tryong to put a 96 supercharged cobra motor in my Thunderbird Sc and it has the stock manifolds on it. If i do this steering shaft mod will i be able to use the stock manifolds or do i still need to get the frpp headers ? There is a set for sale on ebay for 325 i just dont wanna buy them if i dont have to. Thanks for any help and dont beat me up too bad.

Thanks
