I recently learned you can purchase an f150 outfitted with a compressed natural gas system, including a tank of compressed gas.
If the government allows this, then why not hydrogen?

CNG is very easily retrofitted to a gasoline engine (fuel injected or carbureted) and CNG or propane is readily available.
hydrogen is not. and there is no distribution network.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that Hydrogen gas burns so much faster than Gasoline, engines with compression ratios greater than 9.5 to 1 are very susceptible to damaging pre-detonation (engine knock). For this reason, Hydrogen conversions are not recommended for vehicles with turbochargers, superchargers, or compression ratios greater than 9.5 to 1.
