so, how bad is the coyote wiring into a 1st gen?
the price of the f150 5.0s is becoming reasonable and I find myself considering picking one up for the next project.
the engine would be backed by a manual trans, probably a 3650.
i'm also assuming oil pan interference and some custom type motor mount action.
but as long as the issues are fairly minor, i might go for it.
(paging mad1stgen ;D)
Do it. It's 2017. 5.0 is the only way to go IMO. It won't be as cheap as C head stuff, but the performance is ten fold. $$/HP/:big-grin: ratio is better than anything out there.
Wiring is cake if you're using the control pack, especially if you're going with a manual trans. It doesn't matter what generation M8. It's actually easier with a gen 1 cluster as it's so damn basic.
I'd go 6r80 and flashed truck PCM/BCM, in fact that's the plan for a certain E91 chassis
I built everything from scratch, didn't use a single aftermarket part. So k-member mods, oil pan mods, motor mount mods, exhaust manifold mods, timing cover mods, alt and PS mounting/plumbing.
While not needed, move the battery to the trunk. You'll love other benefits. If you can make stuff, it's not so bad, but you gotta throw the 4.6 thinking out the window. Everything is different.
Sure, if it fits under the hood.
The k member interference and custom exhaust was to be expected.
I believe it will fit under the stock gen1 hood without much hassle, it's a slick engine.
Its hard to take them apart once together.
Ha, You kept telling me to shift it into 6th gear, and pointing out later we went past the 100 mph limit. The drive from the airport in dads car was fun also. Except your copilot was better looking then mine.
