Cruise Control Question

So picked up a new to 98 Continental yesterday. I noticed on the way home the cruise control doesn't work. You turn it on, and it says "cruise control ready" but if you press the Resume/Set Accel button nothing happens. I swear the first time I tried the info briefly displayed "Cruise Control Disabled" but I never saw that message again.

Any idea where to start looking for that problem?

The first thing I would suspect is the brake pressure switch. It may have been disconnected in lieu of the recall? I'm not sure of the location on the Continental.

That was my thought as well. I'm not at home to check it, but it's my understanding it's somewhere near the brake reservoir. I imagine it's way past the date I could get that recall done if that was the case.

I have a 94 Mark VIII, recently replaced rack and pinion, this weekend noticed neith the horn works (with pressing steering wheel air bag) nor does the cruised control work. Speedometer works fine. Horn work with key FOB. Thoughts Driller? clock spring?

Yes, if you let the steering wheel rotate while the rag joint was disconnected, you might have broken the clock spring.
