Does anyone know how to...

First of all, it's sooooooooo good to be back here. I missed LOD a lot.

Now, I need directions on how to change the the rear axel on Nyghtshayd.
If some of you remember, back in May, I got T-boned. Well, the body shop I chose didn't want to touch the job so I gotta do something before Nyghtshayd starts to rot.

Thanks everyone.

Removal...

Axle

Tools Required:

~Hub Remover Replacer T81P-1104-C

~Metric Hub Remover Adapter T83P-1104-BH

~Hub Bearing Service Adapter T86P-1104-A1

~CV Joint Remover T89P-3514-A

~Differential Plug T89P-4850-B

~Torx Holding Tool T93P-5494-A

Removal

CAUTION:
Do not begin this removal procedure unless the following parts are available:

~A new hub retainer nut (Step 1)

~A new inboard CV joint stub shaft circlip

~A new differential oil seal

Once removed, these parts must not be reused during assembly. Their torque holding ability or retention capability is diminished during removal.

NOTE:
Before raising vehicle, turn off air suspension switch located in luggage compartment.

1. Working from the right side of vehicle, remove wheelcover/hub cover and remove hub retainer nut using 36mm socket. Loosen wheel lug nuts.

CAUTION:
A frame contact hoist must be used to avoid damage to the halfshafts and/or halfshaft boots.

2. Raise vehicle on a frame contact hoist. Refer to «Section 00-02».

3. Remove wheel lug nuts and remove rear wheel and tire assembly.

CAUTION:
Damage to the ABS sensors may result if they are not removed BEFORE removing the halfshafts.

4. Remove anti-lock brake (ABS) sensors.

5. Using needle nose pliers, slide parking brake cable adjusting clip downward until cable is free.

6. Remove parking brake cable from brake caliper.

7. Remove upper and lower caliper retaining bolts.

8. Remove caliper assembly from rotor. Refer to «Section 06-04».

9. Carefully wire caliper to brake junction bracket as shown.

WARNING:
EXTREME CARE MUST BE TAKEN NOT TO STRETCH, TWIST OR KINK BRAKE HOSE ASSEMBLY.

10. Remove upper control arm bolt and nut.

11. Wire upper control arm to upper shock absorber so that it does not interfere with or damage CV joint boots when halfshaft is removed.

CAUTION:
Failure to mark this position will result in bushing wind-up on assembly and incorrect ride height, causing misalignment and premature tire wear.

NOTE:
When upper control arm bolt is removed from the knuckle, the lower bushings will return to their relaxed positions.

12. Using a paint marker, mark the position of the lower control arm in relation to the knuckle with the lower bushings in their relaxed position.

13. Attach Hub Remover/Replacer T81P-1104-C, Metric Hub Remover Adapter T83P-1104-BH and Hub Bearing Service Adapter T86P-1104-A1 to hub studs as shown. Turn wrench counterclockwise until halfshaft is free in hub.

14. Using Torx Holding Tool T93P-5494-A hold bolt and loosen lower rear nut and remove.

15. Using Torx Holding Tool T93P-5494-A hold bolt and loosen lower front nut and remove.

16. Push CV joint stub shaft inboard through hub while positioning CV joint and knuckle to allow the front lower bolt to clear CV joint and remove bolt.

NOTE:
Washers are positioned between lower arm and bushing. These washers must be reinstalled.

17. Remove and save washers (one washer for each lower control arm bolt).

18. Remove rear bolt, washer and knuckle assembly.

19. Remove RH halfshaft (inboard CV joint) from differential housing using CV Joint Remover T89P-3514-A. Push tool inboard (toward carrier).

CAUTION:
Extreme care must be taken not to damage the differential oil seal, case, CV joint boot or axle. Differential oil seals must be replaced when halfshaft (CV joint) has been removed.

20. Remove halfshaft assembly from vehicle.

21. Insert Differential Plug T89P-4850-B into differential housing to prevent lubricant loss.

Installation...

9. Install new circlip on RH inboard stub shaft by inserting circlip into groove of stub shaft and pushing down as shown. Do not bend or twist circlip.

10. Remove plugging tool from differential housing (RH side).

11. Lightly lubricate stub shaft splines and carefully align the splines of the inboard CV joint stub shaft with splines in differential.

NOTE:
A non-metallic mallet may be used to aid in seating the circlip into the differential side gear groove. If a mallet is necessary, tap only on the outboard CV joint stub shaft.

12. Push halfshaft into differential until circlip engages with groove in differential side gear. Use care to prevent damage to the differential oil seal.

NOTE:
Proper knuckle attaching bolt installation is with the bolt heads facing the rear of the vehicle and with the washers on each side between the arm and the bushing.

13. Engage hub splines with outboard CV joint splines and install rear lower bolt, washer and nut finger tight.

14. Position washer between the front lower bushing and lower arm.

NOTE:
Due to the control arm design, the lower bolts must be installed with the torx hands facing the rear of the vehicle.

15. Push CV joint stub shaft inward through hub while positioning CV joint and knuckle to allow installation of the front lower bolt washer and nut.

16. Align bushing/arm index marks and tighten lower arm attaching bolts to 128-178 N-m (94-131 lb-ft) using Torx Head Holding Tool T93P-5494-A.

17. With lug nuts installed, hold rotor from turning and hand tighten new hub nut using 36mm socket.

18. Install upper arm attaching bolt and tighten nut to 158-193 N-m (117-142 lb-ft).

CAUTION:
When installing caliper hold outer shoe against rotor braking surface to avoid damaging caliper piston boot.

19. Position brake caliper assembly over the brake rotor and install the two caliper attaching bolts. Tighten to 87-119 N-m (64-88 lb-ft).

20. Insert parking brake cable through caliper lever and attach cable ends.

21. Install brake cable adjustment clip. Refer to «Section 06-05».

22. Install anti-lock brake sensor(s). Tighten retaining bolts to 19-27 N-m (14-20 lb-ft).

23. Check axle lube level and fill as necessary.

Check inboard CV joint circlip engagement by attempting to pull inboard CV joint from axle. If CV joint circlip is not seated, push CV joint in until circlip is fully engaged in side gear.

24. Install wheel and tire assembly. Tighten wheel lug nuts to 115-142 N-m (85-105 lb-ft).

25. Lower vehicle.

26. Tighten hub nut to 340 N-m (251 lb-ft).

27. Install wheelcover/hub cover.

Good to be back, Thanks!

Thanks Driller, you always come through! :wave022:
Now to find a "Half-Shaft", as it is correctly called...

Mopar### where are you?

Lonnie

Blue Oval Chips
I wonder if you could get him to measure those shafts. I bought a set, not from him and they turned out to be the smaller diameter than what came in the Mark.
