Does nothing ever happen on the West Coast?

I'm dieing to get a good look at a blacked out Mark VIII up close and personal. I never hear of any Lincoln events happening out here. What's up with that? We need a West Coast Carlisle. (or however you spell it)


And I'd kill for a Nobel peace prize. (Stephen Wright)

Where abouts is Lake Forest? I'm in Marin County, just north of the Golden Gate, and avu3, (Scott Miller), is just a little bit farther. There are a few members in the S.F. Bay area, but try as we might, it seems no one can ever make it on the same day.

There are also a bunch of So. Cal members, but they too seem to have a hard time coordinating things.

If we could get a decent amount of *confirmations*, I'd suggest a night-over about midway between north/south CA on the coast, (Santa Barbara?).

There are two Lakes Forest according to Mapquest. One by Tahoe, the other here at the 5 & 405 interchange about half-way between L.A. and San Diego. This one is getting too densely populated, and I don't mean with trees.

I like that idea of meeting in Santa Barbara. Beautiful area, room to breathe and I haven't been up there in a looong time. I've emailed the SoCal chapter a few times and never get a response. ?

Santa Barbara would be great becuase that's where I live!!!! I'd be happy to show everyone around.

My local car club does tons of events and the next time we have one that is suitable for the mark VIII crowd, I'll send out an email.

We go to the big tracks a lot..willow springs, buttonwillow, etc. but thats probably too much for a mark VIII meet.

I'm trying to organize an autocross in camarillo( south of SB near ventura) with the PCA and that would be a great time to meet in SB.

There are also a few road rallys around here along with car shows..etc.

We could also go out to LACR(palmdale) for drag racing and my group has been talking about it for a long time but were not big on drag racing.

Yea, I may be heading that way this week! How to get hold of you? Can you explain to Stephen what means 'blacked out'? I've assumed it means painting all the chrome parts black save for the wheels, right? But do really PAINT everything or just REMOVE a lot of it? I've always liked those Mercedes done in black and GOLD. Anybody ever see a Mark like that?

i'm around the Oakland/Hayward Area in Cali... not sure how many members transferred over to this new site. It took a lot of time for a meeting in 2001 I believe. It was done in LA and about 12 members showed up. Since then there were quite a few meets in SOcal. But nothing here up north. I'm pretty sure we could wind up 4 poeple but not much more. I would be willing to have a meet up north here in cali in a 50 mile radius.

I'm up for Santa Barbara or a track meet in So Cal. You know every year they hold the finals to the Chili Cook off in Rosamond by Willow Springs. I realize that is not a Car event thought. Something near the beach sounds really good.

The Dana Point Blues festival is the weekend of May 16,17,18 and they've got some pretty hot acts this year.....Johnny Lang being one of them. That's a thought but man it's really a zoo for that party.

OK, thanks Stephen. I'll put your number on my mobile which is 714-404-1494, btw. I get up by Beach and Ball Streets in Anahiem on an infrequent basis. I know there's some comfortably sleazy T & A bars in that area. :)

Chili Cook off in Rosamond? I didn't think there was anything to do in that town. I'm there pretty frequently for track events(just helping and not driving though).

So what type of car events are people interested in?

Autocross? Rally? Drags?

The autocross that I was trying to help organize is on hold because of construstion at the venue.

If anyone wants to go to any of the big tracks to drive in a school or just watch, let me know.
