EATC won't go into self diagnostic mode.

Following the directions in the factory manual for my 2007 Town Car I've tried to get the EATC control to go into self diagnostics but it just won't do it. Tried several times pushing the off and floor buttons and then the auto button but nothing happens other than it goes into the auto mode. ????? A second or possibly contributing problem is that the cooling fan does not seem to operate any more. I've checked the fan itself by unplugging it from the control module and running 12vdc to it directly and it works just fine. So, I'm thinking that the module which controls the cooling fan speed is at fault but don't want to start "throwing parts" at the problem to get it fixed. Anyone have any ideas of either of these topics? Thanks loads. Texas without A/C sucks.

I thought it was Vent and off then auto for the cars. Anyway there should be a fuse for that fan, if you have control over what air comes out of which vents then its most likely not the EATC

I thought it was exactly like my 2000 Grand Marquis to get to self test mode. It is a little tricky sometimes, watch the volume, and bask in the sound of my bad blend door actuator...

And by "cooling fan" you mean the one on the radiator, right?
Not the "blower motor" that pushes air into the car, right?

03+ LTC is slightly different with the dual EATC. That is the same way to get into self test mode (press off and floor at the same time, then release them, and press Auto). BUT to exit you use the front defrost button. Yours also can show continuous codes using OFF and Floor at the same time, release then press Recirc button). Exit is the same Front Defrost button.

Yes, the colling fan on the radiator which is controlled via the little module which the fan motor plugs directly in to. Thanks for replying to my queries.

I have tried both of these methods several times and they simply will not cause the unit to go into self diagnostics. All buttons seem to be working okay on their own. And, if the method for getting into this function of self diagnostics is different for dual EATC why doesn't the factory manual state this?
