i have a 96 that someone knocked the past system out of, and a 97 thats getting cut up for scrap once the engine is out of it, can i take the ecu out of the 97 to put into the 96 if i swap the 97s ignituion system into it to? i just want to get it running so it moves under its own power.

Look at the 2 codes printed on the cover.....gotta match -- knowing the big differences between the two, I doubt it.

i kinda figured it was gonna be a might work most likely wont work scenario. i was givin the 97 in exchange for pulling the engine for the guy and the front struts. rest is mine for my effort. door switches are all mint clean interior for the most part. trans shudders. was used as a bone stock stock car. fortunatly i got the trunk light to. just pisses me off that the guy i got the 96 from destroyed the pats system.

maybe best bet send it off and have someone kill the pats? i have a sct programmer somewhere i bought off a guy on here 2 or 3 years ago with a 97 tune in it but i cant find it now.

You can have the pats disabled but you will not be able to use the 97 tune and you will need to use the 96 PCM. Even if it was for the same year vehicle, SCT vin locks their tunes to a specific vehicle so you wouldn't be able to either way.

i know he put his car back to stock tune before he sold me the unit.... either way i cant use it for my 97 driver. his was just a stock engine retune mines had the fox lake treatment to the heads and intake with comp xe-r 278 cams. i bought the unit for 100 bucks just cause it was a good deal at the time.

If it has a Gen 2 hood then it has a rear neon. Like I said, it's either a 1 or 2. The 1996 LSC's have HID's and PATS but no key in the dash and NO Gen 2 hood.

there are hybrids actually. just not built by ford.

if you can go this way, you can surely go the other way.

not saying this is what he has, but i am saying it shouldn't be immediately discounted.

not every 96 lsc has HIDs. many have been replaced by previous owners due to high bulb cost or wrecks.

it dos have rear neon, with a hole in it from a fork lift. stupid previous owner. must be a 97 and i just never thought about it. guy said it was a late 96 and i just went with it. now i really wish i knew where that damn sct programmer was.
