End of a Lincoln

I'm sorry to see this. Hadn't you just bought this car when I met you guys at Carlisle? It looks like you were in the middle of some sort of big-vehicle sandwich. I can only imagine the sort of impact that would have caused that.

I'm relieved to hear that everyone is ok, and I'm glad you weren't in something smaller!

you should save the hood ornament as a memorial to the car. :)

Yep, sandwiched between 2 SUVs, a Tahoe and a Outlander.

We bought it almost exactly 3 years ago, so yea, we just bought it when you had seen it. Even though we put almost 70k miles on since then, it still looked as good as it did back then.

if you push the fuel-reset button, does it still drive? :D getting into that trunk could be tricky..

a few years back I was rear-ended in a '92 crown vic at a stoplight by an Alero going at speed. the Alero was totalled, the CV just got a new bumper cover. no damage at all, really.. We drove it home.

So yeah. Joe really got whacked. Be sure he watches his neck. I hope the kids weren't in the car for that.

It was only Joe in the car, so no kiddos!

We did get into the trunk to get the sub and a few other things, but of course it wouldn't shut.

I bet it would run if we reset the fuel pump switch. We didn't try though.

Moonroof, Homelink, wood inserts in the steering wheel, and I love the color.. Looks nice!

I didn't see the knobs that control the heated seats though.. I test drove one much like that recently.

Say "Hi" to Sprint for me. I get a lot of mail from "overland park, KS"

Funny that you say hi to Sprint. As Joe had just left the Sprint campus when this happened.

The car we drove does not have the heated seats, so that would be the only option we would loose if we bought it.

There was one issue with it I wasn't sure what it was. Inside the trunk you could hear a whinning/humming noise. It sounded like a little electric motor going, and it seemed to be coming from under the rear deck. My first thought was a fuel pump, but if you put your ear to the filler tank, you hear nothing. The air suspension had fully pumped up and the radio was off. The noise can not be heard from the back seat.

Thoughts?

Hmm.. perhaps ignition noise in the audio system coming through the rear deck speakers?

Otherwise sticking your head in the shelf where the spare tire sits ought to tell you if the sound is coming from above or below.

Other than the radio, the fuel pump is the only thing I can think of.

Oh man, that sucks! So sorry, but so glad Joe wasn't hurt and kids weren't in the car. I hope you find something you guys like to replace it, and I do hope you two and the kids can come to Carlisle this year.
