Engine compatibility

I've been looking at engines for my 1995. Seems noone is bidding on the Ebay ones. On car-part.com, they seem to be running between $200+$500.
Are 93 thru 95 the same, then the IMRC changed in 1996, and the intake in 1997?

Engines are the same, the 95s had a bad batch of intake valves. I'd go with a 93-94 The blocks are all the same you can simply swap manifolds from a 97/98 if you wanted a newer engine. 97/98 also use COP vs coil packs/wires.

If you have a choice, I would get a 96. You can install your original manifold and imrc plates. No big deal. Good thing is that 96's have the upgraded beehive springs. So, hopefully no valve spring failures.

Thanks. Valve spring faliure is what did my engine in. I thought of pulling the head off and seeing how bad the piston got beat up and seeing if I could just change the head, but from searching through this forum, it seems like it's not even worth doing. It's going to have to come out with the transmission, since I can't rotate it to get the torque converter undone. This is probably going to be a spring project. I am in the planning stages right now.
