Engine Lift Points

I have a 1997 Lincoln Town Car Exec Series, 4.6L, that I will doing an engine swap on. The existing engine has 150K plus miles on it and has a bad rod and the replacement engine has only 55K miles on it. I have a 2 ton shop crane and a heavy duty load leveler but need to know the best spots to attach the load leveler to the engine to remove the engine. I will be removing the engine from the top. Also, does anyone know the bolt size that I need to use to mount this engine to a motor stand? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Remove the alternator and use those bolts and holes for supporting the front of the engine.

As far as the rear I'm a little hazy where I've mounted a chain but I think it was a bolt on the back of the drivers cylinder head.

Thank you very much, Eric. This was extremely helpful. The picture of the motor suspended from the shop crane was especially helpful. I think the load leveler that is seen in the picture is the very same one that I have and gives me a good idea of how where the lift points are. My first goal is to get the new engine lifted off my trailer and bolted up to the motor stand so that I can do some work on it and then I will pull the old engine out. Never done this before, but have plenty of time to go slow and do it right. Thanks.

No problem, best thing to do is to start another thread and keep us updated with progress pictures and it would be a good place for any more questions that arise. We love watching projects here.
