Engine mount lessons learned

I make stuff
I'm going to be replacing the engine mounts on a friend's car tomorrow and wanted to see if any of you guys had any "lessons learned" from doing this? I'll be using an engine support bar to hold the weight of the engine and/or lift it up some, if needed.

I know some have needed to shorten the through-bolt on the passenger side, but is there anything else that would be helpful or might make it go a little faster? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Depending upon the condition and age of the car, it's likely that one or more of the block mounting bolts, especially the three that have nuts (1 on the left, 2 on the right) holding a bracket or the ground cables, will fight you to their death. Every time I've had to change mounts, I've ended up having to drop the K-Member to get enough clearance to work on those bolts. Same car, both sets of pics.

Good luck!

Holy lack of threads

Those studs are about the only PITA on the job. I have a slim profile 13mm wrench I am usually able to stick in between the stud hex and the nut to hold the stud in place before you even touch the nut.
The RH ground cable loop often just snaps off as it wants to spin with the stud/nut as one. Have a new ground loop ready just in case.

I also have a 13mm wrench that I ground down, for that very purpose. ;)
