There is interference with the factory steering shaft and coupler. Either modify tubes to fit around, or you can replace steering shaft with flaming river u-joints and extra shaft, while altering angle from factory spec. Do a search on here for flaming river or long tubes. Btw, Kooks have mid- length headers that fit factory spec.

Kooks is the only out of the box header option. Otherwise you have to modify mustang headers. Several have done it themselves. Some have gotten shops to do a good job for decent prices. Others have had their "pro" jobs famously botched.

Mine would have worked with the stock rag joint but I opted to install the flaming river steering joint, gave me more room and a tighter feel.

The headers bolted up but it was a process.

It is going to be AT LEAST a "wash" either way. The Kooks will drop in with a labor charge, or you can get the Cobra longtubes for cheaper right off the bat but pay extra labor to have them modified to fit. I have 96-98 Cobra BBK longtubes on my car and THREE primaries on the driver's side header had to be cut out and re-routed/welded. The outputs for the 02 sensors point to the inside and hit the trans, so they have to be capped and re-tapped to output to the outside. The collector flange on the passenger header had to be clocked about 45 degrees or so and re-welded to the header to clear the trans pan on that side and it still hugs tight to the pan. The collector on the driver's side header hits the floorpan (with good motor mounts that are not worn in) so we creatively pushed up the floor in that area creating a small dent. ( because racecar)

The custom exhaust shop royally effed my driver's header up and my buddy re-did the job on that header for about $500. Ballpark estimate would be $1500 worth of labor from an exhaust shop who knows what the heck they are doing. Plus the cost of the headers. So about $2000

Your results may vary.......
