exhaust

why do people say you can't make a true dual exhaust on a 95 mark viii? ive posted about getting a new exhaust on here before, but the place where we go to have the exhaust done says it cant be done? without removing the 3rd cat(are those the cat converters?), can you attach an x-pipe, run piping, and then the mufflers? if anyone has a build up of this maybe i could print out(one without removing the 3rd cat if those are the converters) i would like to see how you put the x-pipe in, followed by the regular piping and then the mufflers ofcourse. let me know, i really want this thing to be louder, the flow 40s on there are decent sound, but im a kid and i want it to sound badass lol. any help will be appreciated! i want a true dual exhaust, forgot to mention that the exhaust on there now is one pipe down the middle, branched off into two pipes with mufflers on the ends, so its not a true dual, i know true dual can be done. thanks again :D

the reason you cant do it with the 3rd cat is it itself is a 2 to 1 similar to a y pipe. you can remove the 3rd cat and add a x and run duals from there. that will get you the most sound and performance

wish i was in CA, i would have done exactly what you did, kooks headers are pretty steep though, 800 for one pair, and i think the ceramic are 945.00 holy.. i would love to get headers, and maybe just change the mufflers idk. one day when i atleast have my permit ill have to go with my dad to the place, and see what they say, remove the 3rd cat, put an x-pipe, run piping, louder mufflers. i just dunno if the guy that does inspections will pass me because of not having a 3rd cat.

okay it is settled! ive come to this decision if meineke will hook me up. cut out the 3rd cat, put an x-pipe in, run regular exhaust piping, and then mufflers, only this time i want the tip to look like it was straight piped, (they have nice black long tips at meineke, the guy thought it would look good on the car when my dad first had the exhaust done), so hopefully they will do this for me and i can get this done next spring. can't wait! they also do inspections so i think ill be fine with that if they are willing to remove the 3rd cat. thanks for the help guys

As they are an inspection station, I'll bet they won't remove the cat......at least not without some back room palm greasing.....

EEEE Hopefully Mieneke there has better techs then here. I would never let them close to my car.

How about this...see what they say and tell us what they decide to put on before you get it done. Hopefully they build the system to suit rather then put on the cheap stuff.

they do, my dad wouldn't let any random shmuck (yes shmuck :)) touch the car, it was his baby, the guy who does the exhaust is from jamaica, does really good work. he did exhaust on both of my dad's cars, the mark and a 03 benz, honestly this guy is too good at what he does, so ill definately bring it to him. they said they wont removed converters, idk if he was just saying that cause he dunno if im one of those agents looking to fine someone or not, but he said definately bring it in to see what they could do to make it more aggressive and louder(this was from the guy on the phone, not the jamaican guy who does the exhaust)-- so i will be taking it in the spring when i have my permit woot!

Sounds good!
No it doesn't. Meineke still sucks. LOL
Haha! Well, they've built a reputation of suckness so hopefully you'll luck out with a nice exhaust AND at a decent price.
