Had about 3000 miles since June and I finally got time to change the oil saturday. What a PITA. Trap Door Mod come spring time - hopefully. I need to find a spare bumper cover so I can cut out a larger cover molded to the hole I am gonna cut in mine.

LOL, seriously ... ? It's not much more difficult than when the filter is in stock location ;)

For a once a year oil change I wouldn't cut that impossible to find bumper cover.

Did you remove the wheel liner ? After that it's cake.

If you think that was tough, wait till the day you have to replace the alternator

I still do not have a jack nor jack stands. I did this with a scissor jack with a bottle jack as secondary support under the frame.
I did remove the entire wheel liner and squeezed my fat arm up in there.
I couldn't do the 2 screw only method.

I know it's not a money thing so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE buy a solid set of 6Ton jackstands and a proper jack before you do anything else.

I always wondered what happened to that car....Now I know. Glad to know it is still being well cared for.

I'm not sure if you actually got under the car or not.... But, years ago on another board one of the member's son was killed by a car falling off a scissor jack and crushing him. He was just trying to do some quick work and didn't support the vehicle with jackstands.

It is cheap and easy insurance.

I had my mustang fall on me once, luckly my jack stand just tiped over and I was able to get out. Go to craigslist and find a used set, cars are easy to replace, drivers are not.

my friends vette almost fell on top of him, we did have jack stands, but had them on his paved driveway on a summer day. the jack stand sunk into the pavement a little bit and tipped as we jacked it up.

I suggest you have it professionally maintained. :)

I have Injected Engineering change the oil, filter, drain the oil recovery tank, and whatever else The Mark needs every six months. Not the most cost effective way, but it works very well for me.

I have been looking for a local shop to do work on the car. I am looking into MPE Racing in Taunton MA (30-40 min drive) and Dez Racing in Sekonk ma (40-55 min drive).

DO NOT go to Dez. He is a hack beyond belief. Just walk into his shop and you will see. I'm not familiar with MPE, but in general I found that shops in Mass suck. A good friend of mine has had so much garbage work done on his car by shops that were supposed to be very good. do yourself a favor and lean the basics, buy some good tools and learn about your car. Even without much experiance you will do better work than most shops because it is your car and you care about it.

If you do end up going down to Taunton, give me a heads up, I'm close by in Bridgewater (was in Milford before).

I would love to do the work myself but I run out of time fast sometimes.
I am also not too familiar with Manual Transmissions, I think the custom linkage is getting loose from my technique.
We should definately get together in the spring. Didn't work out for us this past summer.
Thanks for the Heads Up on Dez.
