FUEL FILL on dash?

Has anyone ever noticed this on our guages? What does it do?
I'm fairly certain it just tells you what side of the car the fuel fill is on (with the little arrow that my husband ignores for the easier way of just asking me what side it's on).

I believe most, if not all, cars have that indicator on the dash. It's amazing what you can learn when you ask something!

Would it not be cool if the all manfacturers would put the fuel door on the same side? It irritates me cause both my vehicles the fuel door is on the passenger side, but most other cars I get it it's ont the drivers side, and I nearly always pull up on the wrong side in these other vehicles, man does that bug me.

Paul: look on your instrument cluster. You will see an indication telling you which side of the car holds the gas filler. If all cars were the same, they wouldn't need the reminder.

I always liked the ones behind the tail light, like the 56 & 57 Chev. Nice spark source right there at the filler cap.
