Getting closer to a "Classic Car"

Just pasted 10 years ownership of my Mark VIII. Best car I've ever owned. In another 5 years it can be considered a "Classic Car", where you can get a plate that indicates such.

I checked out the PA definition and figured I list it here:

A “Classic Motor Vehicle” – is a motor vehicle, but not a reproduction thereof, manufactured at least 15 years prior to the current year which has been maintained in or restored to a condition which is substantially in conformity with manufacturer specifications and appearance.

PA rules for classic plates do not permit operation for general daily transportation. Permitted use is limited to participation in club activities, exhibits, tours, parades, occasional transportation and similar uses.” Occasional transportation and similar uses is defined as one day a week.

Classic vehicles are subject to vehicle safety inspection annually. Classic vehicles are not subject to emissions inspection.

Looks like the exhaust system could be open for modification at that time, if it's a "classic".

But does the statement "...which has been maintained in or restored to a condition which is substantially in conformity with manufacturer specifications and appearance." preclude modifications like that?

Tell me, how many classic 'Muscle Cars' have you ever seen with a stock or even OEM spec exhaust on them? Some, but not many. As long as you dont have exhaust stacks comming through the roof, I think you will be in the clear.

A lot less years than here in Arkansas. It has to be 25 years old here to qualify for "ANTIQUE/CLASSIC" status. Actually there are many cars and trucks in this state that are at least that old!
Benefits of an antique vehicle: You don't have to have it registered every year and no inspections. You also get a neat looking license plate...............

That just means you can't get pulled over more than once a week.

RE: Getting closer to a

FINALLY a place where New Jersey excells! (Shakes head in disbelief)!
Besides Antique & Classic we have a classifaction of "Collector's Car" (or) "Special Interest" vehicle. My 3 ascMcLarens & the 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special all qualify. Therefore, none of them have to go thru regular state inspecition, yearly and all 4 of them can be driven UNlimited mileage and I am able to secure BETTER insurance and MORE insurance on them, than on the Town Car and Cherokee, and the UNreal price of $248.00 a year, per car. So it's $996.00 a year insurance for all 4 of these cars! The window inspection sticker is a triangle, rather than a square and in ~HOT~ Yellow and proclaims "COLLECTOR CAR". I still have to register it every year. By comparasion, the Town Car & Cherokee run me $400.00 a month. The 3 ascMclarens & the Caddy run $83. a month for all 4 of them.
