Guess what I did!

I changed my shocks without jacking up the car! :D

Reached into the trunk, unbolted everything.
Slid underneath, unbolted everything.
Slid out the old shock, slid in the new one.
Bolted the bottom.
Placed bottom bushings and plate on the shock.
Unhooked the restraining cord, plate slid into place.
Reached back into the trunk, placed the top bushings and tightend everything up.

Done in and hour!

Now to rebuild my Transmission...:fart

I wonder if you could rebuild it without taking it apart... hahahaha

Nice work. I don't know if I'd have to guts for something like that...

:wave022:Truly there was no danger (to my knowledge) because there was no reason for the car to drop or roll. :wave022: Mind you that I changed the SHOCKS in the back, not the air suspension bags.

The shocks don't actually hold up the car... i think it is actually safer to change them on a coil spring car when it is on the ground than when it is off.

Not sure if I would slide under an air spring car with the Air suspension switch on...

I changed the front struts with out taking the wheels off.

Not trying to be a 1 upper, you just reminded me of that.

Apparently is the switch is left on it will lower itself on you. Although its never ever happened, people believe it does.
It may or may not... but the thing is it COULD... if you mess around with the car in the back and accidently toggle that sensor in the wrong way, prepare to bench 2000lbs. (kind of drawn out) but I would rather not take the chance.

I think there might be a misunderstanding here. If you jack up the car with the switch on the system will release air in an attempt to put the car back to it's normal riding height. When you lower the car with the jack after this has happened the air bags have almost zero pressure and the car will pretty much sit on the ground. This is not how he put the shocks in. He left it on the ground and did not use a jack. I wouldn't worry about putting your arm under the car to put in a pair of shocks while the car is NOT jacked up, just sitting there parked. It will have no effect on the air ride system because you are not attempting change the height of the car.

Exactly. If I do jack the car, I always turn the switch off.
