Having problems with remote entry/programming.

Trouble programming remote transmitter on '97 Mk8. Enter factory code, doors unlock. Press 1/2 next, nothing happens. Remote has fresh batteries. Tried several remotes. Remotes test fine on RF testers. Any solutions, ideas?

Full disclosure. I never bother with the remotes on my cars, and prefer the keypad.. I've never done this.

Tried the 8 times back and forth and nothing happened. Decided to try to program a personal code (factory code will unlock doors) on the keypad, did that and the #41 blew. . Replaced fuse, and it did it again. Starting to think I have a DDM issue? Any other thoughts?

Sounds like you have a problem with the keyless entry, not the key fob.

If you blew a fuse, I would start with checking the wires to the keypad inside the door.
