Heater Core Leaking...Just Shoot Me NOW!

I got the whole she-bang. Smell inside, Windshield fogging, Wet passenger side floor. (I think this is worse than replacing the fuel pump)

Anyone have a walk-thru for this most terrible of jobs?

here's a link from another site that i had saved.
i've never done it, looks like a real PITA.... at least it's getting warm out now. you could always bypass it and get by for a while.

I wonder if the post is too old. It's pretty much the same procedure for the Mark VIII. Doesn't look like fun to me. I may have something else on my computer at home, I don't know.

On my T-Bird, I ended up cutting a square through the firewall to get to it. Saved hours, and didn't increase cabin noise at all.

I have the same heater core problems, foggy wetness the whole nine... I feel for you!

I have to fix (and reinforce) my blend door anyway. I think I'll replace the evap core and steering wheel potentiometer, and fix the blower wiring while im at it!!..

No pics...that was back in 1993. We couldn't even afford a digital camera back then.

After unplugging the heater hoses, we cut a square around them (through engien side firewall) just big enough for the core to fit through. Then pulled the core out from the engine side. My dad fabbed a quick and dirty firewall insert that we screwed in to cover most of the hole after the new core went in.

Wow, interesting idea. Not sure if it work work so well on a mark but haven't heard that one before. I did a heater core in a mid 90's sable and that was a pain. We has to pull the whole dashboard out......ugh

I am having trouble removing the main wire harness on the drivers side firewall. Its a PITA to get to yet alone to disconnect.

Help?

I think it's bolted in. Do you mean the part in the engine compartment?

Yeah, If I'm looking at it right, can't reach the thing from the outside either.

Dash won't budge beyond the slack of the cables. I can't tackle this again till this Saturday anyway... Wanna help? I'm having a Video Game Party after.
