HDLT FINN.jpgHDLT 2nd hsg.jpgCleaning the lense will help, and installing an HID kit. Chances the chrome inside is gone, and the inside of the lense is yellowed. Chrome Brite will re-do the inside housing, using little strips (pic). CB will only bend in one direction, hence the strips. I clear coat the strips, and after 2 years they held up well. Clean inside lense, and buffed outside, comes out great. Cost; CB 2 packages. $10=$15. HID kit, 4000K-6000K 35 watt, $40 on up. It's a labor thing. I did 2 sets of LSC's, and it took 32 working hours, and their easier than std bubble type (base).

Presuming you have the standard headlamps, the best improvement is the LSC HID housing option.

Aftermarket HIDs are available using adapters for the mounting in the HID bulb opening.

Another option for the base housings would be HIR bulbs, preferably with reconditioned housings as posted above along with a relay kit to feed battery power direct to the headlamps. The HIR bulbs are extremely bright but much cooler operating due to the IR coating.

HIR Bulbs

I have these installed as high beams in the '93 but if I had a Gen1 with base housings, I would definitely go this route.

I have always liked this option if you couldn't get your hands on some HID housings.

I may even have a set for sale...

Don mentioned "cost effective" LSC's HID's are the best way to go. A set that will need some love, are going for around $350, if you can find them. A real nice set (like pictured) $450 on up. Their getting more rare, and climbing in price. I wish I had a pick-a -parts, and could get them for $50. They are surely an up grade for your car, for lighting, and looks. There was a nice set on E-Bay, about a year ago for $450, and they sold in a few weeks. A lot of guys told the seller he was nuts with the price. He then listed another set for $495, and sold in a couple of days. All MK VIII parts are getting rare and hard to find, but LSC lights seem to be really rare. Only made late 95, and 96.

Both the headlights were NOS but someone backed into it at the shop and broke the passengers side headlight. Of course thats the one you can not find new anymore. Are the 96 HID's that much better ?? Driller suggested HIR bulbs ?? Please tell me more about them and can they be used on the low beams ?? I have considered driving lights and I was even thinking of how to install them in the bumper ??

The HID is standard in the low beam side and the typical 9006 are in the high side.

Here's what the 96 LSC lights look like...

I have another set of LSC housings I've been passively trying to sell if you're interested.
