I just picked up a 98 LSC C/E. It's a nice car but I will need to make it mine. Since I retired my 7, I have been missin a rear wheel drive V8 car. It was the best/funnest car I have ever owned. I hope as I make this car mine, it can fill some of the void that my 7 left. On my to do right away list is a trac lok, & exhaust. Then some wheels/tires and from there we will see what direction it goes.

P.S. I have been a member of Lincolns on line & Ford vs Chevy for years.

Is this the car that was just purchased from this site? If so, you got a great starting point, and I envy you (in a good way!).

As I have been learning, the mods you have listed for starters are great for the car (even though you already have true dual exhaust, a plus over us Base guys with single). Since you are going to install a Trac-Lock, might I suggest a gear swap (since you will already be there)? Most here will steer you into 4:10s (which I am also doing) as it really wakes up the 3850# slumbering beast. I was contemplating 3.73s, but was talked into the 4.10s based on weight and transmission gearset ratios.......I will let everyone know how I like them when I do the swap (car will stay with 3.07s until it gets back to Florida).

Enough rambling; welcome to the LOD.

Welcome Robb! Nice car you found, I'm sure you'll love it!

As for it being as much fun as your Mark VII was, I'm not so sure about that... Those old Fox body cars were an absolute blast to beat on! :) Even though the VII and VIII are only separated by 1 roman numeral they are truly different cars.

Thanx. Its not a Mark from here. I picked it up off CL down in Detroit, MI. I will be putting a lot of highway miles on this car so I won't be goin with 4:10s. I may do 3:73s, we will see.

Its funny, I was set to buy a 94 off another guy from CL and I seen he was on another forum. He might be a member here. When I talked to him, I told him I was looking for a car that doesn't need much work & would be dependable. His car was in amazing shape for sure. But when I told him that I drive a lot of miles and so on, I could tell he wasn't impressed. He told me he had Friday off & we arranged that I would pick it up then. Then Thursday I texted him to get his address & he told me he had to work, & wouldn't be able to meet with me. He suggested we try for Sunday but I had explained in our first conversation, that I was going out of town for the weekend so he knew that wouldn't work for me. I reminded him that I was leaving town & I would have liked to drive the car on my trip. I never heard back from him. I could tell when I got off the phone with him the first time, he didn't like that I was actually gonna drive the car. To each his own. The car was in great condition, probably better if someone gets it that will put it back in storage.

As the owner of a 215,000 mile '97, it sounds like you made the right choice. These cars love to be driven, and I love to drive them. :) Mine has seen both oceans... at least twice. :D

Ok Rob, just thought I would ask as it sounded like one that was for sale here!

As to your MKVII fetish, I have to agree that it being a 'FOX' made it quite the candidate for hot-rodding. We had a guy in the car club with a 1990 LSC (I think it was a 1990 anyway, I have been gone for a LONG time) that was insane. He MAF converted it, built an AFR-headed 11.0:1 compression 347 stroker, hooked it to an Astro A5 (T5) trans, and spun an Auburn-diffed 4.10 geared bulletproof 8.8". Ran 94 Cobra brakes and some BBS 17" meshes. That car was killer, and with all the chassis stiffening/bracing, could handle like it was on rails while still providing a comfy ride.

Yeah, I too love the Fox chassis, and I will also agree that the MKVIII is worlds different from them (but they too still need lots of chassis bracing and bar upgrades to handle well and stiffen up the 'wet noodle' body flex. That they do share with the Fox-era cars!
