Hood Latch

Is there an easy way to fix the hood latch problem on this car? I have to slam my hood really hard to close it, and it is getting really annoying. This is besides the fact that I think I'm going to break the hood when I slam it so hard.

I know there is a TSB on this, but I don't remember what it said.

Thanks!

Not sure what year Mark you have. TSB 93-5-2, date March 3, 1993 refers to the hood "High Closing Efforts". I didn't see any other TSB mentioning the hood. And this is for cars built before 11/13/92. By the date, this shouldn't affect many Marks

I did have a problem with the hood latch a couple of years ago. When closing the hood, it wouldn't latch. So I took apart the latch and cleaned and greased it. Its been working OK since then.

Good luck

I actually have the problem on my 1993, which was probably built before 11/92 and also on the 1996 LSC I am trying to sell.

I'm not sure what the problem is?

On both cars I can push the latch down with my finger to lock it, with the hood up, so I don't think they need to be greased or cleaned. Although I did spray down the latch on the 96 with wd-40, that didn't seem to help.

I can close and lock both hoods, but I need to slam them both hard to get them to latch.......too hard.

Any suggestions?

Ken
