I want a better fuel system

I plan on upgrading my fuel system this fall. I have a green top SVT pump in now. Are the fuel lines for the cobra that sit on the engine larger? if so will they work on my 98 intake? Will an after market fuel injector block work?( Not changing manifold ) I will be taking it off, cleaning it and a slight rework, IMRC delete plates. I will install an Aeromotive 340 LPH pump. My list of parts include:
30 lb injectors, larger MAF and throttle body, SCT-4 with 3-4 tunes,03-04 Cobra cast iron manifolds, 2 1/2" exhaust (no cats) with exhaust dumps and Veritone mufflers, Trans update with 3500 rpm converter, and 3.89-1 gears with true-trac. And Dyno time!

I have the Cobra fuel rail on the '96 with the Cobra intake install. I did not notice the fuel rails to be any bigger but I did not bother to measure them.

Since either the '98 or the Cobra fuel rails can be used, I do not see why you couldn't use the Cobra rails on the '98 with the stock intake.

If you check out DLF's Cobra Intake install thread you will notice somewhere in the thread where he had to modify the fuel lines where they attach to the Cobra fuel rails. This is something that you are going to have to deal with even if you retain your stock intake if you plan to use Cobra rails. In my opinion, the cobra rails are not any bigger and will offer no performance enhancement whatsoever in terms of fuel delivery. If it were me, I would skip the Cobra rails. Those are really only a benefit to the guys who swap to a Cobra intake because they fit better with the larger upper plenum width and allow for accessibility to the fuel schrader valve that gets buried when using stock rails with the Cobra intake.

Now, if you are looking for more fuel delivery, MMR rails or UPR rails for the 96-98 Cobra are what you would need. BUT I think with the pump choice that you have in mind and injector size, you will not outflow the stock rails and you are still going to have a healthy fuel system with plenty of headroom. The only 2 things that are going to make it necessary to switch to bigger rails is a ton more power or E85.

Thanks guys! I think I will just go with the 340 pump, lb injectors and after market pressure regulator

Not sure what your goals are, but the focus pump you've already installed might be sufficient ? I don't see any power adding mods on that list to even facilitate the injector/ MAF change ?

I've seen solid 400rwhp out of it with otherwise stock 97-98 Mark VIII lines and rails without any other changes.

I think I have a new Aeromotive regulator around here that mounts to the stock rails.

Thanks Jeremy I wood be interested in the regulator. I have done a lot of research and it appears our engine's with 24 lb injectors max out at 322 - 325HP. I have seen the guys that are really going fast go to 30lb. DLF ran them. If the stars align next year I am planning on going to the Texas Mile in march. I appreciate any advice you may have. Mark

are they still having tuning issues with those?
i've read many times where people where having trouble getting the tps curve working well.
They can be tuned ...the guys I know who have them are happy.
ICA can cause more headaches.

Was mostly giving Mark grief because his insistence of sticking with a stock gen 2 manifold.
I just dumped two of those for scrap.

Crap, I would forget the injectors/rails and put a real intake on it. I couldn't believe how much power the Gen2 intake robs.

It looks like you have a 98. What is the point of adding the regulator? You have a higher flow pump and only slightly going up in injector size. From there shouldn't the tuner be able to dial the injectors in, so to speak? Not shooting holes at the plan but trying to understand.

Anytime you put a larger MAF, injectors, fuel pump larger exhaust it is wise to have it retuned. With the larger pump I want to put on a better adj regulator and gauge so I will know what the pressure is.
