So, life has been a bit crazy, and I don't think I shared with many of you that Candy had to be put down back in October and it was extremely difficult on me (as Mark and others can tell you from the drunk calls I made). :(

Beerdog the meanie originally said we had to wait 2 years to get a dog. Plus I'm more limited now, with the shoulder problems that won't go away, I need a dog I can control on a leash without too much effort, and of course need a pet that will get along with the current kitties.

Spawn, the big fat cat that must think he's a dog who slept in Bix's bed when she was put down is STILL grieving. The house, even with 3 cats feels somehow empty. So, after browsing petfinder and local shelters, we found a LOVELY, well trained beauty named Layla. She has the sweetness of Candy with the smarts of Bix. We should be getting her today.

We had a Husky/Shepard, howled like a wolf, very active dog, tons of energy, loved the snow and cold,and shedded like crazy in the warm weather

Well, Candy was definitely Husky mix, and howled like a husky when she actually spoke, and Bix was Border Collie mix, so I think I'm getting a combo of our 2 pets here. :) This one doesn't have long hair and tufts of hair like Candy did, which I suppose Beerdog likes.

I feel so mommy-like. We had a slght issue tonight so no unsupervised kids with the dog til things tiettle down. Mark, totally come over tomorrow. I need to get more pet toys, she likes thes tuff Bix liked, ie, stuffed toys. She's cagd right now for the niight, seems to have no pros with it. I know poeople think I'm crazy, but really, I need her. Plus, she's getting along with the at thta gets along with no one.... go figure.

Oh JP, I'm still trying to get the kid to put up NYE pics.... I'll ask Hubby to get some point and click ones up. I'm still trying to figure out her schedule and keeping her and Spawn apart (Spawn started it by hogging the dog's food bowl). Actually I think Layla thinks it's a game, cause she has no prob with the other 2 cats.

Good to hear, congrats. I still haven't been able to put myself in the position to get another dog yet. But I just got my shoulder problem fixed on Tues of this week, rotator's cup and torn tendon. Not as painful yet as the 11mm kidney stone but it's right up there. Not getting around or able to do much yet since it's only been a day or so and I'm all strapped up.

Eleven millimeters?!?!? Sorry to hijack the thread, but damn. I had one about 2mm is I was in agony for three days!
