Ok it's my turn.
When I open my drivers side door my interior lights wont come on and it won't show the drivers side door ajar.
I have the door panel off and can't figure out where the switch is.
When I open the passenger side everything seems to be normal.

It sounds like a bad door ajar switch or maybe the wire going to it?

The switch is on the latch.

That round thing looks like the old style door handle counterweight/damper?

Well since no one had this problem I'm done.:D
Apparently when the window guide broke loose it cut a wire going to the micro switch. So I cut the bad wire a soldered and tapped it up. While it was apart I put in a new micro switch. It comes out by turning to the left. For some reason it goes back starting from the right side and turning it to the left. i had to loosen the door jamb to have more access.
To repair the window guide I removed the rubber and just drilled the spot welds out and put in two round head screws so it wont bind up.
If anyone needs to replace the micro switch I would recommend taking the window guide out to have more room . It just clips at the top and then remove one bolt from the the L bracket which mounts to the door.
Sorry no colorful pictures as I was being lazy...:eek:

The "door ajar" problem is common, and is absolutely the reason your lights are not turning on.

The switch for the door sensor is buried within the latch mechanism of the door itself. If you get your best can of WD-40 (With the straw) Open the door, and start spraying into the latch. All over. Use lots. Repeat on the passenger door.

Open and close the door a few times, and see if that takes care of it Usually, it does.

Do your tail lamps work?

The way I understand the lamp warning circuit is the resistance of the circuit is compared to a known resistance and if not equal, it triggers the warning message. This is accomplished with special wiring in series to the lamp circuit.

driller-
the tail lamps bulbs all have been replaced but i want to know how to fix that damn message on display
Tail lamps and side markers? Just because all the lights work doesn't mean the correct bulbs were used. I know Andy over in the UK had the same issue, turned out one of the bulbs had the wrong resistance; fit the socket and worked but just off enough that it tripped the check tail lamp warning.
