I'm not sure if this is old news or not...but it is new to me and I love it.
In wanting to keep the stock appearance of my Mark I have been discussing with my local stereo shop how I can interface my Ipod into the stock head unit...well today we did it. It was basically plug and play.
He found a company 'PIE' (Precision Interface Electronics) that makes an adapter to tap into the CD changer input in the back of the head unit to interface an aux source (ipod)
So, we plugged this adapter (pn FRDF-AUX) in the back of the head unit, then plugged another PIE adapter (pn AV-iPD) into the two RCA jacks from the 1st adapter and tapped into an aux power source to make it complete.
So, now I have a wire coming out from underneath my console that I can just plug my Ipod into. I push the 'CD' button on the head unit and the Ipod becomes active..and it charges the Ipod too.
The screen just reads CD 1 Track 1 perpetually.
The sound is great! No more FM receivers or those tape adapters....and everything can be just tucked away.
It is easily reverse-able and the CD changer plugged right back into the rear of the head unit.
All that to say is that i'm pleased and thought i'd share.
