It runs like crap

so I got my 98 to start but you have to feather the gas pedal to keep it running.If it jumped time time a tooth or two would it still run?My buddy says to put Seafoam in it .Any ideas?

It's an interference engine so probably not. It can be a lot of things, have you replaced the coils and plugs? And engine codes?

Check for codes first, look/listen for vacuum leaks, perform a compression check and check the top end with a stethoscope.

Seafoam will just drain your wallet.

Coil on plug, pull them check them

if it idles smooth but wont hold idle, probably a IACV (idle air control valve)
if it starts and feels like it is running very rough like a misfire, most likely a oil-soaked coil on plug or fouled/worn plugs
