It Works ...

It seems to work. Thanks to boomer57, steve and sleeper for responding to magic-markers post last night.
sleeper, the only change I made was to enable cookies!! As you can see I got posted.
Thanks to those of you who have helped get me this far.
I am looking for a straight, mint, Mark VIII, one owner, under 30k. $'s may limit my purchase to 1st generation.
magic-marker has enlightened me about the '96 LSC model being the best and last of the first generation Mark VIII's.

Uh - oh! You just started a firestorm, there, Mike! :)

Now that I have been publicly recorded as singing the praises of the '96 LSC, the '97-98 owners may try to convince you that Gen 2 Mark VIIIs are superior.

No matter what they say, don't believe them. :)

(BTW, this is kind of a running, good-natured 'family feud' on LOD) :)

I too was torn between choosing a 1st or 2nd gen. Mark.
Then I remembered that I do like to drive at night on occasion!

There's nothing to think about, 1st gen owners try to steal any parts of gen 2's they can get their hands on. But thankfully I never had the misfortune of having to barrow a part from a Gen1. Their struts suck, lighting is a disaster, their interior looks like it was designed in the 40's, they lack many options, and we have better traction control, better rear/front/side lighting. better looking seats, rear arm rest, better wheels, better speakers, better breaks(rotors) less problems, some 2nd gens come with heated seats, the list goes on and on and on... all they claim to have healthier is less problems with the blender door, and they 'claim to be faster' but my 2nd gen ran 14.79 stock.

Anything I missed 2nd guys? We have to put these first Gen1 guys where they belong, we let them get too far :7

This is all in good humor :)

And how much does it cost to replace those bulbs? Hmmmmm.

What was that, you can't afford them? Aw Shucks ;)

Heck, I just have my high beams on at all times. It works for me! I would also like to have a '96 LSC someday. Possibly a '98 CE also.

I am perfectly happy with my '94! (Well except for the faded leather steering wheel and the worn outboard bolster on my driver's seat.)

costs $435 to change both headlight housing and Light bulbs, both cheaper then one side for a First gen to join the game.

God im having too much fun.

you forgot that our front ends look way better. I love being able to see at night also. Gen 2's rule.:D
I went from a gen 1 to a gen 2 and never looked back. But in defense of the first gens, their front end looks a lot better than ours. It looks like a sperm whale sucking in plankton.

wow I think our front ends make the car look more upscale compared to the 1st gen.
same here, I guess some of the first gen owners actually got to some of the second gen guys that they have superior front ends.. :p

and to be fair.. they also have a hood light, and we dont.. thats it.

I have all of that but the heated seats and better lighting, looks like the 96 is the way to go. As for your 14.79, we can line up if you like...http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/wink.gif

For the record, most turn the traction control off anyway.

Well, It sounds like you Gen 2s have alot of nice stuff. Most of it I can live without. Would like the better lighting and that telescoping wheel. I guess I could always shell out the dough and get the lights. The only thing is, how much would it cost one of you Gen 2 owners to get one of our good looking front ends. You have got to admit that was a change they should have avoided. Anyway were all brothers and sisters here, right!
