Shocked that between the leak down, and the compression test it didn't show up.

I would guess this car would be one of them.

You have gone above and beyond normal trouble shooting.
100% total pain in the ass.

I have read through this entire thread at least twice and both times it completely broke my heart. Can someone please shed some light on whether this problem was ever fixed if one of the greats couldn't? R.I.P. Doug :frown:

Jeremi replaced the engine. Not sure if he took the time figure out the root cause.

Here's the rest of the story. He actually did follow the "drive it till it blows" advice, as I witnessed it pulling up to Jeremi's engulfed in a ball of smoke.
